confessions of a shopaholic...
just the other day i was reading this book "confessions of a shopaholic"...and i just felt that its quite easy for most of the girls to relate with some parts of the book in one way or another.I don't know what is this thing so jubilant about shopping specially for girls. Why it is such an enchanting affair for them.I too am very fond of shopping so are all the girls..at least the ones i know.Obviously i'm no shopaholic, but i love shopping and enjoys it in every possible way.If i'm downhearted for any reason and feels that nothing is going to help then shopping is surely a one thing which peps me up.But it not at all means that i use shopping as a coping mechanism because i'm emotionally distressed or something like that,i do shop cos i utterly enjoys it.By shopping i don't mean going all gaga over it.It never means i want Levis,Gucci or Armani..its not the brands we always want..u cant go branded all the time..even a colorful handkerchief or spiritless pajama can do the trick.Thing is that even the thought of grocery shopping excites me.once i was supposed to go to supermarket all by myself to buy some staple stuff..n instead of groceries i ended by buying khatha meetha churan, different flavours of cornflakes, khana khazana pickles, assorted biscuits,a new variant of tomato ketchup n whole lot of such stuff...and now mom avoids taking me along to a supermarket..but one thing mom also agrees to is that i'm the most hassle free shopper ever..i never pretend to have the sky-high choice,if i like anything i pick it up without creating any huff around...and if i don't find what i'm looking for,i don't mind settling for some other thing as well...:)
And one thing i feel that if u have a flair for shopping u don't need handful of credit cards or all the money in the world to enjoy it.what is important is that all the shopping we do,we must do it with utmost passion and highest degree of interest even if its something as trivial as a pair of bathroom slippers. That is what makes you a staunch shopper, that is what makes your shopping spree a true delight...!!!

Hi Shibri.. i totally agree with you...
When I am feeling low.. i just hit the mall.. and usually i dont revenge myself by splurging.. but i go with the aim of finding stuff not buying stuff... and luckily enough i dont need brands to satiate my craving either.. a tiny little key chain, a cute card, a funky pen, a strange notebook, or a nice anything.. And the best part is.. i bet myself on the prices... i would buy a certain thing only if i found it for less than a a particular price... i keep noticing how many items i didn't pick up just because they were not in my "realistic" price range...And if at the end of the day i am still empty handed then as I wrap up my trip I pick up the first thing that gets me excited and that equals the total of all the "good" stuff I left behind.. Wow.. Yeah.. We're all the same.. Some of us shop the whole day.. Some of us blow it up in the last minute.. Some of us buy stuff just because it was on sale.. Some of us buy stuff just because we saw somebody else had it..
Some of us like to save money and spend big.. Some of us buy everything we come across.. Some of us just keep adding stuff to our wishlist..
But in the end.. We all know that there is stuff out there that we NEED ... or may be .. there's stuff that needs US... And so we wait for our mood swings to give us an excuse to help those poor things lying aimlessly out there..!
Anjali.. :)
Hiii Shibri,
A very true feeling you have written... Shopping makes everyone happy and excited too.. Because it gives you new stuff and count as a new smile. Even if it was a pair of slippers it seems us like a pair of branded shoes....
But i dont like searching all the market for the best one. Instead i bought that stuff which my eyes like the most...
In the end i want to say that shopping didn't mean buying thing that we need.. It is taking new smiles at home...
Simran..;)
Truely said Shibri!
